MICHAEL LEONARD JAMES, 2013 Audelco Award winner for outstanding performance in musical/male in The York Theatre’s Off-Broadway production of Storyville. He also won rave reviews as Frederick Douglass at Mother AME Zion and received the Audelco Award nomination for Best Solo Performance, Best Performance in a Musical (M’Dear) & Best Supporting Actor in a Play (Driving While Black). He has done an East Coast solo tour as Martin Luther King, Jr. and was featured in TWAS’s Hamlet, No Place To Be Somebody directed by Woodie King, Jr., Jesus in Godspell; Friar Lawrence in Romeo & Juliet, (Classical Theatre of Harlem), Tokyo Can Can II, (American Theatre of Actors), The Pirates of Penzance (South Street Seaport) and Black Wall Street. He has sung in El Shaddai and An Evening of Hope at Carnegie Hall and performed Broadway songs at El Teatro Presidente with Purelements in El Salvador, Central America.
